Phase II Drum Sampling/Hazardous Waste Assessment
AET's drum assessment protocol includes the identification, inspection, other containers. Classification of the waste materials is performed in sampling, and classification of solid or liquid waste contained in drums or accordance with EPA RCRA Standards to determine if the waste is hazardous according to it's ignitability, reactivity, corrosivity, and/or toxicity.
Scope of Services
- Visual Drum Assessment & Demarcation - AET personnel assess the type and condition of existing drums at the site. Included within this assessment is the determination of drum status (empty or containing material), drum condition and type of material (solid, liquid, etc.) within the drums. AET then characterizes the drums within the facility into homogeneous groups for disposal.
- Acquisition of Characterization Samples - AET collects representative samples of homogeneous groupings of site drums in order to characterize the specific waste stream resulting from disposal of a specific homogeneous group. Waste characterization is based on general chemical properties of the waste stream. Drums identified with labels or containing known waste materials will be treated as such (i.e. additional characterization not performed). AET characterizes the grouped waste in order to provide reduced disposal pricing.
- Provision of a Drum Disposal Work Plan - AET incorporates the drum assessment data and characterization sample analysis into a Drum Disposal Work Plan document. AET then procures disposal prices from appropriately licensed vendor(s) in order to accomplish this task. Following the removal of drums and ultimate material disposal/recycling, a final report is prepared.
- AET provides for turnkey project services for the drum disposal activity. AET also provides oversight for the drum disposal, including preparing project specifications, and interfacing with the disposal facility.
